
A Survey of Quakers
When William Penn asked George Fox whether he should become a vegan, Fox famously replied, Be a vegetarian for as long as you are able.
Well, almost … This oft-quoted conversation has helped so many of us in our quest for integrity in our lives – it facilitates the truth that we are on a path, rather than attaining a goal; we lay down one habit to adopt a better one.
Today, for many Quakers, the central question of Integrity concerns our place within the biosphere. Do the testimonies of Equality and Peace extend beyond our own species to the whole planet?
It would be easy to create a questionnaire to put before you. We could discover how many Quakers are Vegan, or how many are Vegetarian, or how many eat honey, or meditate on silk rugs … Instead we invite you to submit one Question that has informed your life, and out of all those questions we will weave a questionnaire, which transforms the world.
